At Next Chapter Literacy, we understand the challenges that come with learning to read, spell and write, and we are passionate about making this journey a positive and empowering experience for every child. We specialise in a structured literacy approach, which is grounded in evidence-based research, proven to be effective for students of all learning abilities.

Our program centres on systematic synthetic phonics, a method that breaks down the process of learning to read and spell into small, manageable steps. We tailor our techniques to each child’s unique needs, ensuring that every lesson is personalised, engaging, and effective.

Why a Structured Literacy Specialist...

A structured literacy specialist plays a crucial role in providing individualised, evidence-based instruction that addresses the unique literacy challenges each child faces. The approach is systematic, meaning it follows a clear, step-by-step progression, ensuring that foundational skills are built gradually and securely. This method helps children develop essential abilities in reading, spelling, and writing by targeting key areas such as phonemic awareness (the ability to hear and manipulate sounds), decoding (sounding out words), and fluency (reading with speed and accuracy).

For children with learning difficulties, particularly those with dyslexia, this type of targeted instruction is often more effective than traditional methods. The structured literacy approach focuses on explicit teaching, where concepts are clearly explained, and learning is broken down into manageable steps. It also incorporates multisensory techniques, engaging multiple senses, such as sight, sound, and touch to reinforce learning. Week 2 of September School Holidays Intensive Sessions

Our approach focuses on identifying your child’s literacy challenges and providing targeted support to build their understanding. Using a multi-structured, interleaved learning approach, we ensure concepts are revisited frequently, avoiding cognitive overload while strengthening skills. Our one-hour intensive sessions follow a structured scope and sequence, ensuring your child builds skills progressively and systematically. Sessions are tailored to focus on phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension, with each concept building on the last to create a strong foundation for success. Key Dates: Monday, 29th September - Friday, 3rd October 2025 Duration: 5 x 1-hour daily sessions (same time each day) This is a fantastic opportunity for students who need extra support to boost their literacy development. Weekly Term Sessions

Our weekly term structured literacy approach targets literacy challenges, ensuring that every child can thrive and reach their full potential. Ensure your child receives the support they need with regular structured literacy sessions to reduce cognitive load and help them embed learning for lasting success. Children with literacy difficulties or disabilities require more frequent explicit instruction than their peers for several reasons… Processing Speed – Students with learning difficulties may process information at a different rate than their peers, requiring additional time and support. Orthographic Mapping – This process helps children connect spoken sounds to written letters, allowing them to read and spell words more accurately. Some children require more focused instruction to solidify this connection. Phonemic Awareness – Developing the ability to hear, identify, and manipulate phonemes (the smallest units of sound) is essential for reading and writing, and some children need extra support in this area. Pre-Primary Readiness Sessions

Expression of Interest

Seeking Expression of Interest… Seeking expression of interest for our L'il Chapters - Pre-Primary School Readiness Sessions. Sessions are designed for 4-5 year old children, preparing for school in 2026. Students must turn 4 on or before 30th April 2025 and be eligible to start school in 2026. Our sessions will focus on: - Fine and gross motor skills - Social-emotional development (sharing, turn-taking, and building friendships) - Early language development (sounds, letter identification, and foundational skills) Sessions will run for 45 minutes, in a caring and supportive environment. Potential Sessions Times: 9:00am - 9:45am 10:00am - 10:45am 11:00am - 11:45am Small groups of at least four and no more than six children will be guided by two qualified educators. Gather a group of your kindergarten friends or peers to join in the fun and enhance your readiness for school in 2026!
